MT4 vs MT5: what actually changes for the trader

Both platforms are widely offered by brokers, but they are not the same product. MT4: older, simple and stable, with a huge library of indicators and Expert Advisors written over the years. Supports 9 timeframes and hedging only accounts. MT5: newer, with 21 timeframes, more order types, a built-in economic calendar, more analytical tools and support for more asset classes. Supports both netting and hedging account types, depending on the broker. How to choose: - If you rely on an existing MT4 indicator or EA, check whether an MT5 version exists before switching (they are not compatible without rewriting) - If you want more timeframes and built-in tools, MT5 is the natural pick - Some brokers also offer their own platforms or cTrader Which one do you use and why?
