Pipette

Updated 2026-09-20

Definition

A tenth of a pip: the fifth decimal place (the third for yen) shown by many brokers.

Why it matters

It allows more precise prices and fractional spreads. Be careful not to confuse it with the pip when reading a price or setting a stop: always count from the fourth decimal.

Practical example

The price 1.10005 includes a pipette: it is half a pip above 1.1000.
