Trend
Updated 2026-09-20
Definition
The prevailing direction of price: bullish with rising highs and lows, bearish with falling highs and lows.
Why it matters
Trading in the direction of the prevailing trend tends to have better odds than trading against it. It's recognised from the sequence of swings and lost when the last protected low (or high) is broken.
Practical example
HH and HL on the H4: uptrend until price closes below the last higher low.
