Cross pair
Updated 2026-09-20
Definition
A currency pair that doesn't include the US dollar, such as EUR/GBP or GBP/JPY.
Why it matters
The price derives from crossing two majors. Spreads are usually wider and moves can be larger, especially on yen pairs.
Practical example
EUR/GBP = EUR/USD ÷ GBP/USD: with 1.1000 and 1.2500 it gives 0.8800.
